Week 4 Devotional

Mark 5 Devotional: Delay Is Not Denial | Faith in the Waiting
Life doesn’t always move at the pace we expect.
In Gospel of Mark chapter 5, we find two powerful stories woven together—a desperate father believing for his daughter’s life and a broken woman believing for her healing. One is urgent. One is hidden.
And in the middle of it all… Jesus stops.
To Jairus, it probably felt like a delay.
But to the woman, it was a miracle.
And that’s the tension we all face:
What do you do when it feels like God stops in your story?
This week, we’re leaning into a powerful truth:
? Delay does not mean denial.

? Day 1: When Desperation Hits
Scripture: Mark 5:22–23
Jairus was a leader, a man of influence—but when his daughter was dying, none of that mattered. Desperation brought him to the feet of Jesus.
Sometimes God allows pressure not to break you, but to bring you closer to Him.
Desperation strips away pride and reveals where our trust really lies.
Reflection: Where is your current situation pushing you—to fear or to faith?
Prayer: God, in my moments of desperation, draw me closer to You. Help me trust You fully.

? Day 2: Faith That Pushes Through
Scripture: Mark 5:25–28
The woman with the issue of blood had every reason to stay hidden. She was rejected, overlooked, and labeled unclean. But her faith said, “If I can just touch Him…” Faith doesn’t wait for perfect conditions—it presses through fear, discomfort, and opposition.
You don’t need recognition to reach Jesus. You just need faith.
Reflection: What is trying to hold you back from reaching for Jesus today?
Prayer: Jesus, give me bold faith that pushes past fear and reaches for You no matter what.

? Day 3: The Pain of the Pause
Scripture: Mark 5:30–35
Jesus stops to acknowledge the woman… while Jairus is still waiting.
And then the worst news comes: “Your daughter is dead.”
What felt like a delay now feels final.
Have you ever felt like God was moving in someone else’s life while yours seemed stuck?
What feels like a pause to you may actually be purpose in motion.
Reflection: Where in your life does it feel like God has paused?
Prayer: God, help me trust You even when I don’t understand the timing.

? Day 4: Choosing Faith Over Fear
Scripture: Mark 5:36
“Do not be afraid; only believe.”
Fear will always speak—but you have to choose which voice you follow.
Faith doesn’t ignore reality—it trusts God above it.
When everything around you says “it’s over,” God is still saying “keep believing.”
Reflection: What voice have you been listening to—fear or faith?
Prayer: Lord, quiet the fear in my heart and strengthen my faith in Your promises.

? Day 5: It’s Not Too Late
Scripture: Mark 5:41–42
By the time Jesus arrives, the situation looks finished. People are mourning. Hope feels gone. But Jesus speaks—and everything changes.
What they called dead, Jesus called sleeping.
If Jesus is involved, it’s never over. He doesn’t just show up on time—He shows up with power.
Reflection: What have you declared “over” that God may still want to revive?
Prayer: Jesus, I trust Your timing. Speak life into every area I’ve lost hope in.
